This garden is an outdoor retreat devoted to Our Lady of Sorrows. Each of Mary’s Seven Sorrows are displayed on a cement “tear.” A statue of the DePrato Pieta sits in the center of the Garden.
Our Lady revealed to St. Bridget of Sweden several promises to those devoted to her sorrows. These promises include: peace to their families, consolation in their pains, protection in their spiritual battles, and to those who propagate this devotion she promised to take them directly from this earthly life to eternal consolation and joy.
Prayer Ministers pray the Our Lady of Sorrows Rosary before Holy Mass on Fridays at 10:20am. The Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows is September 15th, and the Archbishop has granted a plenary indulgence to those visiting the Shrine on this day.
